Useful evidence.
Clear limits.

Profiles connect public information with questions that matter locally. A missing indicator is a research need, not a zero or a good result.

Research edition 1.6.2

Versioned reference evidence is displayed separately from editable local notes. It includes the revised Census 2022 municipal factsheet and historical Census 2011 town pages. Stats SA is acknowledged as the original data source; selection and presentation are Embo Sotho Resources’ independent processing. These data remain freely accessible.

Fieldwork and publication dates

Visit periods are confirmed by Embo Sotho Resources. The dated field-report heading identifies that visit period. The publication and research update date is 26 October 2026. Source reporting periods, Census years and photograph dates remain separate. A visit record alone does not establish measured observations, laboratory results or interviews.

Images and attribution

Reference photographs identify their subject, creator, source, licence and available capture date. They are not presented as photographs from the October visits. Bethal and Kriel use representative illustrations, labelled as such. The Dinokeng image represents the Dinokeng portion of the combined Phake/Dinokeng profile.

Keep geography explicit

Town, local municipality, district, provincial and national evidence have different boundaries. A municipal average cannot be presented as a measurement for a single town.

Show the source and period

Record the publisher, source link, reporting period, coverage, access date and limitations. Draft plans remain labelled draft. An access date is not the date a condition was measured.

Separate types of evidence

Sourced indicators retain their method and source. Community reports are attributed as reports and do not become verified findings through publication. Data gaps contain no numerical result. Profiles do not calculate a composite ESG rating.

Review before publication

Staff save drafts, inspect a private preview and explicitly publish a snapshot. Draft changes stay private until published. Profiles display editorial review and next-review dates; overdue reviews remain visible.

Connect opportunities responsibly

Recovery, water reuse, energy, local supply and skills opportunities require their own technical, commercial and ESG assessments. A profile does not establish causation, project approval, an environmental clearance or a company’s compliance.

Corrections and independence

Anyone can suggest corrections through our contact channel. Editors assess evidence and update the profile. Commercial relationships must not determine published findings. Relevant project relationships and evidence limitations should be disclosed in the profile.
